Over the past weekend, Representative Chris Latvala (R -District 67, Clearwater) and Representative Robert Asencio (D – District 118, Miami) were approved as HB 341 co-sponsors. We now have seven co-sponsors – three Republicans and four Democrats – and hope to add more this week as we continue to build bi-partisan support for our legislation in the House.
Representative Latvala has often seen the positive impact that film production can bring to a community – most directly when the two Dolphin Tale movies were filmed in Clearwater and other locations around the county. He understands the HB 341 business model and will be a strong advocate.
Last year, Representative Asencio spoke up immediately in support of our new concept for financing Florida motion picture production and was an original co-sponsor of the 2017 bill. We’re glad he has once again joined the effort.
Additionally, our flag-bearer in the upper chamber, Senator Annette Taddeo, has scheduled a press event at the Capitol tomorrow morning to announce her introduction of SB 1606. We will report in full after the event.
