Senator Audrey Gibson (D – District 6, Jacksonville), who introduced an earlier version of our legislation during the 2017 legislative session, yesterday re-joined the effort to create the Florida Motion Picture Capital Corporation, becoming a co-introducer with Senator Annette Taddeo of SB 1606.
Senator Gibson has long been an advocate of bringing movie and television jobs back to the Sunshine State. As a member of the Senate Committee on Commerce and Tourism, she will be a powerful voice in favor of our bill when it is heard by this first referred committee. Furthermore, Senator Gibson has been elected Senate minority leader for the 2019 session, which adds extra clout to her backing of SB 1606 in the upper chamber. We are very pleased to have the Senator’s energy and enthusiasm once again committed to moving this important legislation forward in 2018.
