This morning, Senator Annette Taddeo (D – District 40, Miami-Dade) introduced SB 1606, becoming the Senate prime sponsor for COMPASS legislation to create the Florida Motion Picture Capital Corporation.

Senator Taddeo – who recently gained her seat in a hard-fought special election for District 40 – represents the heart of Miami Dade County, considers the Florida film community an important part of her core constituency, and promises to be a tenacious and effective promoter of her bill in the 2018 session

Now that we have a companion bill to HB 341, COMPASS must secure a position on the referred committees’ agendas early enough to allow full consideration and passage in both chambers before the end of session. We return to Tallahassee next week for the start of legislative activities, where we have learned by bitter experience over previous years that, as soon as the 60-day clock starts on January 9th, time moves very quickly at the Capitol.
